A Fall Favorite: My Hunter Boots

Processed with VSCO with p5 preset

Credit to my sister for being a pro photographer!

I got this pair of matte black Hunter Boots last year, and have more recently started to wear them a lot. My sister and mom have pairs too, the long ones, but I like the short ones so I can wear cute socks with them that peek out at the top!

The socks I’m wearing during this mini-photoshoot are these cute detailed pale green socks with little frills at the end, from Fireworks. I also like wearing the ones with little buttons on the side when they show with boots like these. Hunter also has boot socks, which fold over the top. I have a white pair, but I think they go better with the long boots.

I’ve seen Hunter Boots in the color Blue Sky around too. I don’t know if I could pull them off but they’re so cute! Maybe I’ll put that on my Christmas list.

Here are a few more pics we took around the yard!

With the shiny vs. matte thing, I like both. I almost got shiny but I really liked matte for the black boots! Here’s the Hunter website: http://us.hunterboots.com/

Thanks for reading! Also comment pumpkin carving ideas, I’m doing mine on Friday!

Pumpkin Patch Adventures!

I’m so sorry for the lack of posts in the past month. Things have been busy! We did find a weekend to go up to the pumpkin patch to find some pumpkins for this Halloween! It turned out to be a super rainy and windy day so we ended up not going in the actual patch part, and that led to getting our pumpkins at Fred Meyer on the way home…

I did get some hot apple cider and some cute pictures from the little farm area we went in though! And picked out some mini pumpkins for my room.

Over the weekend we went to a cider pressing harvest festival with some friends and it was so fun, I’ll look for pictures from that too!

I’ll be sure to do a post about carving our pumpkins..I need ideas on what to do with mine. Next week I might do a Halloween treats post too! I’m getting less busy so hopefully I will be able write more often.

Thanks for checking in!

Gluten Free Pumpkin Spice Donuts

Processed with VSCO with m5 preset

There are four days until it’s officially autumn, but we all consider it to be fall right when September starts. And since it was cold out today, I decided it was only right to do some baking that involved pumpkin..while listening to Frank Sinatra of course.

I don’t always bake gluten free, but when I do I make sure to have a good gluten-free flour mix. The one I used for this recipe was Pamela’s Gluten Free All-Purpose Flour which worked great!

I halved the recipe to make a small batch, and I used a pan for six little bundt cakes-that’s why mine look the way they do-but I will write the regular version which will make about 15 regular sized donuts.

2-1/2 cups of Pamela’s Gluten Free All-Purpose Flour

1 cup light brown sugar

1/4 cup cane sugar

1-1/2 tsp baking soda

1 tsp sea salt

1 tsp cinnamon (ground)

Just a pinch of nutmeg and ginger

2 tsp vanilla extract

3 beaten eggs

1/2 cup coconut oil

1 can pumpkin puree (14 oz)

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease donut pan
  2. In a large bowl, whisk dry ingredients-flour, brown sugar, cane sugar, baking soda, sea salt and the spices
  3. Add the rest of the ingredients-vanilla, beaten eggs, coconut oil, and pumpkin
  4. Mix thoroughly until smooth
  5. Put your batter into the pan, and fill close to the top
  6. Bake for 16-18 minutes. Donuts should be firm but springy
  7. After my donuts cooled I just sprinkled some powdered sugar on them, but if you want to sugar the donuts (with granulated sugar) do it while they are still a little warm after baking. Just put a mixture of cane sugar and cinnamon in a plastic bag and shake it around with each donut

There are also some great glaze or frosting recipes out there..one time I want to try cream cheese frosting with these!

This is the original recipe with a homemade flour mix, a little different than how others and I did it: https://glutenfreegoddess.blogspot.com/2012/10/gluten-free-pumpkin-donuts.html

Definitely try out the recipe, these baked donuts turned out so delicious. Mine are already close to gone! Since I love fall baking, check in for more pumpkin-related treat recipes which I’m so excited to try. Thanks for reading!

Hair Care Favorites

Setting aside curling wands and flat irons, I think that the most effortless and beautiful hairstyle can simply be natural hair, freshly washed with your favorite shampoo and conditioner. I’ve found a few different brands that I’ve been loving so much through the month of August and into September.

All of these shampoos and conditioners are organic/chemical free which is something I really love about them!

The Argan Oil Luxurious Shampoo by Renpure Originals leaves my hair feeling smooth and overall just really healthy. Out of all the shampoos I’ve used, I think this one gave my hair the deepest clean, and keeps it that way for  while too! It also smells amazing which is a bonus.

The Coconut Shampoo & Conditioner by Desert Essence are a simple combo that do their job, and smell sweet and obviously like coconuts. I love the packaging too, it’s so cute! I also want to try the Desert Essence Jojoba shampoo and conditioner.

I also love the Natural Shampoo and Repairing Conditioner by Acure Organics. Acure’s conditioner is probably my favorite. It glides right through your hair and leaves it so silky feeling. Online they might have discontinued this product, but I’ll link the website. They also have many other types, like clarifying and volume shampoo/conditioner which I want to try too!

If you’re in a hurry and have unwashed hair, dry shampoo is helpful. The one I’ve been using lately is the Lush No Drought dry shampoo. It’s not a spray-it’s literally a dry shampoo which is pretty cool! You just need to make sure to blend it completely.

Soon I’d like to write a post about the benefits of using organic hair care products, and also homemade hair care recipes, so make sure to check in! Thanks for reading.

Simple Ways to Add to Your Room

I’ve always loved to change up my room, especially before the start of a new school year. I totally re-did my room two years ago, new paint, furniture and all, but I still like to add new pieces and get rid of the old.Processed with VSCO with p5 preset I recently read an article about how having certain plants keeps the air inside your house or room clean, and “unpolluted.” This was cool to hear because not only are succulents and little house plants cute, but now I have a valid reason for scattering them all over the place!

Another way I have made my room a more enjoyable space is by adding lights! Everyone knows about fairy lights, but for something a little different I decided on these cute little lights from IKEA, that have purple diamonds covering them. They are the RAMSTA Chain Lights, and each pack comes with 24 diamonds.

The lights would look really cool strung around my whole room, but for now I just keep them hanging around my wall tiles-which are actually another cool way of filling blank wall space! I have a whiteboard tile, a magnet one, and mostly bulletin boards which I love for hanging up pictures!

Plants and lights have recently been my favorite ways to add to my room. But I also love to scatter color around my room by displaying pretty packaged candles or candle holders, book stands, necklace hangers and more! I also put a collection of those pretty birthstones in a clear vase/jar and all the different colors look so pretty together.

I’m so excited for fall so I can do some more interesting decorating, but for now I love the simplicity of my room for this season.
